Marematlou Training Institute Grade 8 Digital Literacy Learners

Acknowledgment Ceremony

Marematlou Training Institute (MTI) celebrated the graduation of 77 learners enrolled In a Digital Literacy Programme in robotics and coding, a community service initiative (CSI) conducted by the institute.

Mr D. Moloi, District Director, Motheo Department of Education Free State, hailed the initiative as ground breaking in ensuring that the future Matric class of 2023 is developed to become pioneers of digital information, not only in the respective schools, but also in the communities in which learners live.
The Grade 8 learners were selected from a total of nine schools, supported by Jenn Training and Consultancy (MTIs sister company). Each learner was provided with a desktop computer for the duration of the three-month Saturday training. Upon completion, learners were awarded Certificates of Attendance at a prestigious certification ceremony held on 15 November 2019 at the new MTI state of the art campus. Participating schools were invited to the ceremony and awarded Certificates of Recognition for their coordination and support of the initiative.

The formal occasion was followed by interactive games, where learners competed against each other for prizes and, of course, ‘bragging rights’. The following companies supported the initiative and the highlight of their technological exhibitions included robots, expositing learners to their future, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The highly successful event once again positioned MTI as a leader in training and development. The institution resolved to continue the programme in 2020, wherein the same group of learners will be further developed toward achieving 4IR readiness.
