JENN Training and Consultancy together with CUTis (Central University of Technology Innovation Services) have embarked on Dinaledi and Dinaletsana project from the 01 till 05 October 2018. The project was held at Central University of Technology Free State in an effort to motivate learners and provide them with experience of being in an institution of higher learning and familiarizing them with its culture.
The FSDoE initiated this project with the aim of enriching Grade 8-12 learners in English, Mathematics, Sciences, Technology and Accounting during the winter and spring holidays. The purpose of this initiative is to intensively expose 650 high flying learners to these subjects. This cohort of learners are to be encouraged to choose Mathematics, Sciences, Technology and Accounting subjects with the prospect of continuing in these fields of study at institutions of higher learning and following in these fields of education.
These learners were drawn from 5 districts in the Free State province namely: Lejweleputswa, Thabo-Mofutsanyane, Motheo, Fezile-Dabi and Xhariep district. Whilst the teachers employed in the project were recruited from various districts and provinces through their excellent performance in their fields of expertise.
On arrival day a full programme was prepared and learners received a motivational talk by Mr Matsosa, followed by a structured daily time-table and an award ceremony function on the last day. The purpose of the ceremony was to acknowledge excellent performance by learners in 3 categories and they were awarded with motivational incentives in a form of gifts plus a certificate of attendance. Whilst the remaining learners received only the certificates of attendance.
The closing award ceremony was attended by the Honorable MEC: Dr: T. Makgoe; Professor: J. M. Selesho, Mr T. Mpekoa and other dignitaries from the stakeholders involved in the project.
